About this session

Passive building is a design methodology defined by a set of principles that prioritize energy conservation and best practices. The principles can be applied to all building typologies -- from single-family homes to multi-family apartment buildings, offices, skyscrapers to achieve lower energy use, specifically lower space conditioning loads. These strategies also produce non-energy related benefits such as comfort, improved indoor air quality, durability, and resilience. This workshop will cover the background on passive building as well as the key pillars of the PHIUS+ Certification Standard, how those were developed, and a snapshot of PHIUS+ Certification which is a cost-optimized and quality-assured passive building certification program.
